The 40-year-old said: “I can reveal that the gaffer and I sat down and talked about my future this morning — and I’m staying at Hull City.
“Phil doesn’t want me to leave and I don’t want to leave.
“He thinks I still have a big part to play at Hull so we’ve shaken hands on that and we’re both delighted.
“The lads are doing so well and of course I want to play a part in that. I’m going to fight for my place but even if I’m not in the team, I’ll be the first one giving the lads a gee-up.
“The bottom line is I want to carry on playing for at least another year after this, maybe two, so it’s too early to be talking about management.
“But I’ve done all my coaching badges and it’s certainly something that could be on the cards in the future.”
