Wes Brown and Wayne Rooney scored the goals for United.
“I think it’s the best performance this season in terms of possession and the confidence of the team,” Ferguson told Setanta Sports after the game.
“It’s always been a difficult place for us over the years, and they’ve always made it a battle against us. We’ve lost a couple of times over the past few years and drew last season, but today I think everyone was on song.
“The first 10 minutes was a normal Blackburn-United game, the players were committed and flying into tackles. But once we got the ball down and started passing I think we controlled the game.”
Ferguson added on Rooney, who was among United’s best players today: “He’s a very mobile player and sees space well. He’s very active and has a lot of energy, and uses it the right way.
“It’s his best performance of the season – that has to be said. He was full of running and always looked a threat throughout the match.”
