The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to the Italian giants Roma.
“My priority is staying with Lyon,” he told L’Equipe.
“I have talked with Bernard Lacombe (special advisor to Aulas) and the coach (Claude Puel), but the president is the boss.
“The most important thing for me is if the club wants to give me an opportunity to become the real Fred, the one I was in Brazil – if they rely on me and if I am considered an important player.”
“I want to talk to Lyon as soon as possible, but if we can’t find an agreement I will be forced to talk with other clubs,” Fred added.
“In January, I’ll get lots of offers. I won’t talk with anyone before January, I haven’t had any contact yet with Lyon or anyone else.”
