Defoe has been linked with a return to Tottenham, after manager Harry Redknapp left Pompey for White Hart Lane.
“He’s a threat and there will be big clubs trying to get him in January but hands off, he’s mine and he’s going to keep me in a job,” Adams said in The Game.
“The owner [Alexandre Gaydamak] is totally supportive.
“Everyone who I want stays, or I don’t do the job. [Gaydamak] calls me and says, ‘What can I do for you’ and I say, ‘Leave Jermain Defoe where he is’. ‘No problem’, he says. He’s totally behind me.”
