Schmeichel told Bury’s official website: “I’m very disappointed to be going. It’s just playing regular first-team football at a place where I really like being. It’s a bit of a kick in the teeth, but what can you do?
“The rules say I have to go back now. If the rule wasn’t there, then Stuart Pearce would probably leave me here, but it’s out of my hands, there’s nothing else I can do.
“I don’t know what my situation is at Man City now. I will have a meeting with the manager and see where we go.
“It’s up to him now what happens to me. It’s not really in my hands what happens now.
“I love playing and that’s all I want to do, it’s just the way things are.”
