Harper says he does not want to speak to Fergie ever again.
“I do not wish to speak to Sir Alex Ferguson ever again,” the 60-year-old said in an extract reproduced in The Daily Record.
“No man is bigger than the club and I certainly did not believe I was, but I can’t help wondering if Fergie considered my hero status as some sort of threat to his authority.
“If you look at Fergie’s career since he left Aberdeen, he got rid of Beckham, Keane, van Nistelrooy and Stam – guys who were popular. There is obviously something he doesn’t like about that.
“He’s made a fortune out of the game yet slaughtered guys like Gordon Strachan and Jim Leighton among others who helped him achieve the success that he did.
“He was sacked by St Mirren. He did really well at Aberdeen but was one game away from getting sacked by Manchester United.
“Even in the European Cup final, when they beat Bayern Munich, they scored two goals in the last minute.
“You need that luck and he’s had it in spades.”
