The 37-year-old American goalkeeper pulled off several super-saves to deny the Hammers a goal in the game.
“Brad Friedel was absolutely outstanding,” declared O’Neill. “You thought it was one of those days when it would take something really special to beat him. He has been a fantastic buy.”
O’Neill has also compared Friedel with Peter Jennings, Peter Shilton and Peter Schmeichel.
“You don’t play that many Premier League games as consistently as Brad as without being up there with the likes of those keepers,” said O’Neill.
