A statement on their website read: “Jermain Defoe makes his return to The Lane tonight – and will be presented to fans before the Carling Cup semi-final with Burnley.”
Earlier today a statement read: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Portsmouth for the transfer of Jermain Defoe.
“Personal terms have been agreed and the striker will today undergo a medical.”
The England striker will join Spurs in a deal believed to be worth around £15million.
Defoe left Spurs just 12 months ago, but has recently expressed his interest in a return to White Hart Lane.
