The Sheikh’s representatives have confirmed that the negotiations for a takeover can now begin.
Israel Gutierrez de Alba, who will become the chief representative for the Emir, wrote in an official statement, according to Spanish sports daily AS: “I know that the fans of Real Betis Balompie are very expectant and eager to know if His Highness is going to buy the shares.
“I want the fans to know that he is very interested in purchasing them and his representatives are working on the operation. But I always request tranquillity because such a process cannot be done in a few days. There are still a number of meetings that need to take place before a final agreement can be reached. If everything goes normally, then this operation will become a reality.
“We are looking for a meeting to take place in London at the beginning of April so that we can close the matter. If it were up to His Highness, he would purchase the club tomorrow. He likes Betis because of the city of Seville and especially for the passionate fans.”
