The former Atletico Madrid coach will replace Sven-Goran Eriksson, who was sacked last Thursday.
The official statement from the Federation’s headquarters read:
“The Mexican Football Federation and the Main Directorate of the National Team will like to inform that Javier Aguirre Onaindia will be presented as the new coach on April 16 at 12:30 (18:30 CET).”
