The 24-year-old has been a hit at Fratton Park since joining the club and has also featured in the England team.
“Every player wants to play at the highest level they can, for as long as they can. For whatever reasons it didn’t work out for me at Chelsea and I don’t regret the move one bit,” Johnson said on Setanta’s Football Show.
“When I made a decision I wanted to leave Chelsea it was to play regular football. By doing that I’ve managed to get back into the England team.
“I’ve been in all of his [Capello’s] squads so obviously I’m more than happy about that. Like I’ve always said I just want to get the shirt on and get as many caps as I can.”
