Gibbs made a major blunder that let United score the first goal in the 3-1 defeat on Tuesday.
Wenger said: “Gibbs has suffered a lot but will play because the best thing is to give them the chance to play again straight away.
“It will be a strange game against Chelsea because we are both wounded and angry.
“But Chelsea will be the more wounded because we were never qualified for one second of the two games against United, while they were just one minute from beating Barcelona.”
