The 32-year-old is among 12 stars at the club that are out of contract at the end of the season.
He said: “I love this club and I love the fans. I have done a lot for them and I really want to stay and score goals for the team.
“It is my dream to be here next season.
“Hopefully people will realise what I have done for the club. It is always great to be part of a Portsmouth team.”
Portsmouth are £40million in debt and the club will be forced to make a big cut in their wages.
