The Brazilian midfielder joined United from Internacional in the January transfer window in 2008.
Possebon made his debut for United at home to Newcastle last season.
A statement on United’s official website said: “Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Possebon will spend the entire 2009/10 season on loan at Portuguese side Sporting Braga.”
