The 22-year-old picked up the injury during Feyenoord’s 3-0 victory over RKC Waalwijk on Saturday and did not come out for the second half.
“Jonathan wanted to continue to play, but our medical staff advised me to substitute him. It is not yet sure how long he will be unavailable, as he has yet to undergo further examination,” said head coach Mario Been during the post-match press conference.
“It would be a blow if the injury is serious. However, we have good replacements for him if necessary. The depth of our squad is one of our strengths.”
