Kuyt sustained the injury while playing for Holland in a Euro 2008 qualifier against Bulgaria in Sofia on Saturday.
The Dutchman will miss the home match against Blackburn on Saturday, and the Champions League clash against Bordeaux the following week. Reds manager Rafael Benitez hope Kuyt will recover in time to play a part in the match against Manchester United.
