Merida’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season and Atletico Madrid have expressed their interest in the youngster.
But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen on keeping the Spaniard at the club.
“We have an offer from Arsenal but Fran Merida has an ‘illness’, for want of a better word, and that is Atletico Madrid and you can’t do anything about that,” Merida’s representative Joseba Diaz said in the Daily Mail.
