Arsenal boss proud of his players

The Gunners have moved a step closer to the Champions League knockout stage and need just a point from their final two games.

He told Sky Sports: “I believe they [AZ] were organised to defend and we were organised to attack.

“Overall, we switched off a bit and got caught on the break at 4-0, but I am very happy with our game.

“You just want to go from strength to strength and I believe the team looks more mature, patient when needed and serious when we don’t have the ball.

“We want to show (something special is brewing here). Let’s keep this attitude and this spirit, and we can deliver something special.”

Standard Liege’s win over Olympiakos denied Arsenal mathematically qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League.

Wenger added: “I believe it is not a bad result as it means if we beat Standard Liege or get a point then we can finish first in the group.”
