The Dutchman joined Hamburg from Ajax in 2005 and then Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer.
Van der Vaar has failed to make an impact since joining Real and reports have suggested he will leave the club in the January transfer window.
“In principle I find it too early (to return) and I say no,” Van der Vaart told De Telegraaf, when asked about a return to Ajax.
“I do not know if I will stay at Real Madrid, but there are other options.”
