The game ended in a 1-1 draw after Steven Caldwell sent Burnley ahead but Emile Heskey grabbed a equaliser.
“I think on the second half performance we deserved it,” O’Neill said.
“We were poor in the first half, and we had no reason to be.
“I thought Burnley adjusted to the conditions in the first half much better than we did. They got the goal, not the best from our viewpoint, and it knocked us back a bit.
“We didn’t get going at all until the second half. But overall I thought the point was well merited.”
