Paul Hart was axed from his job as manager for the Premier League strugglers on Tuesday and the club’s director of football, Grant, is favourite to replace him.
Redknapp told Sky Sports News: “Avram’s there – he worked with me there, he’s managed Chelsea.
“I’d be surprised if he didn’t end up taking it – it’s a good opportunity for him to get back into management but I don’t know, only he will know exactly want he wants to do.
“But he would be my choice if anybody was to take it.”
He added on the sacking of Hart: “I was disappointed to hear that – he is a great guy, a real football man, he has got a terrific understanding of the game.
“He did a great job under difficult circumstances and I think it is sad to see him lose his job.”
