The former Middlesbrough ace has been out with a knee ligament damage since the victory over Liverpool on 17th October.
It was initially expected that Cattermole would be out for three months, but the tough-tackling midfielder has made a rapid recovery.
Bruce said: “Christmas is a big time for us and Lee should be available.”
