The Giallorossi secured early qualification with the win, but had to fight back from a goal down.
“As usual, we did not take a great initial approach to the game. The course of the match woke us up, but we cannot always do this,” warned the Coach.
“We need to be more determined and I always tell the lads that. Conceding a goal is something I always want to avoid and we have to work on that.
“The important thing was to secure our European status, now we want to finish top of the group to have a better draw.”
Ranieri is now looking forward to the Rome derby against Lazio at the weekend.
He added: “I put those in the best shape on tonight because I knew how strong Basel were. Now we can start to focus on this upcoming game that all of us care about very deeply.
“Lazio will be angry, so we need to be even more aggressive and fired up than them.”
