McLeish urges Birmingham to stay grounded

The Blues have had a fine Premier League campaign to date, but McLeish insists their number one priority is still to avoid the drop.

“Our target at the start of the season was to stay in the Premier League,” he told the Birmingham Mail. “We haven’t done that yet.

“We’ve got to keep getting as many points on the board as we can. I don’t think we have to look any further than that.

“We’ve got ourselves in a magnificent position, and the players fully deserve it. But they know that they can’t afford to get in a comfort zone and be thinking they’ve got leeway. They have got to be relentless onto the next game now.”

McLeish added: “Looking at the table brings a great sense of pride, of course.

“But it means nothing. If we’re in the Premier League at the end of May we will be just as delighted.”
