The 28-year-old has been struggling since sustaining a knee injury in the warm-yp to the clash with Tottenham on Boxing Day.
Hangeland told the club’s official website: “I’m training now, which is a good thing.
“It’s going in the right direction and hopefully I should be OK for the weekend.
“The injury happened in the warm-up before the Tottenham game. I managed to play through that game and tried to play again against Stoke but it was probably a little bit too early, so the sensible thing was to go off at half-time before it got any worse.
“After that it’s been gradually improving so I hope it’s fine for the weekend.”
