The Blues signed the Spanish midfielder in a £3million move from Sporting Gijon in the January transfer window.
McLeish revealed: “He’s already shown us he can bring his Spanish skills and there’s no reason why he cannot excel here.
“He’s fitted in well, he keeps the ball, and keeps the traffic moving. You know you can give him the ball under pressure and there will never be any need to panic.”
McLeish added: “I’m surprised with how many points we’ve got. If we average a point a game for the rest of the season it will be magnificent.”
