Benitez is currently on a season-long loan move from Santos Laguna, with a view to a £9million permanent deal.
“I’m happy here. I can only concentrate on what I’m doing at the moment. If I’m asked to stay, I’d be very happy,” he said.
“We have a decision to make in May,” said Birmingham boss Alex McLeish.
“I like Christian as a player. He’s not been prolific, but his assists have been absolutely tremendous.”
