Alvarez named new Sevilla boss

Alvarez will replace Manolo Jimenez who was sacked, following a string of poor results.

A statement on the Sevilla website read: “Antonio Alvarez, who is part the coaching staff at Sevilla and who on Thursday took the first team in training, has been appointed by the club as head coach of the team from now until the end of the current season.

“Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido announced this to the team before this Friday’s training session.

“The new Sevilla coach will give a press conference at the end of today’s training session, at which the Sevilla president himself along with sporting director Monchi will be present.”
