Blackburn managed to hold United to a goalless draw at Ewood Park on Sunday.
“Are they as good without Rooney? No they’re not,” he said in The Sun.
“Statistics tell you that their third-biggest scorer is own goals – and that’s very unlike United.
“You would expect them to score, given the chances they have had.
“I don’t think we rattled (Dimitar) Berbatov. We made a contact on him as we needed to early on. You can’t let a player as good as him get on the ball.
“You have to get tight on his first touch and close him down.
“Is he easy to defend against? I don’t think so. Perhaps the finishing’s not there but the creativity is.
“Alex said in his press conference that they had to win every game starting today and we’ve managed to get a draw, which has damaged their chances a little bit.
“It’s not over just yet but they have to win their four remaining games and hope Chelsea slip up. It’s going to be difficult.
“You’ve got to understand that you don’t come here and get it easy. Chelsea have come here twice and not won.
“Teams can’t come here, certainly late in the season, and think they are going to create chances and win.
“Everybody thought Chelsea were out of it after they drew here but they fought back.”
