The new deal has ended any doubts about the United captain’s future.
The 35-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire in the summer.
“His contribution to the club has been fantastic,” United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said.
“As I have said time and time again certain players make careers out of their determination and will to do it and I think Gary is one of those players and we are really pleased with that.”
