Real Madrid are keen to make a bid for Barcelona’s best player in a bid to upset their fiercest rivals, according to the Daily Mirror.
Messi reportedly has a £120million buy-out clause in his contract and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez intends to make the shock bid.
Real Madrid splashed out £220million on Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Karim Benzema, Alvaro Arbeloa and Raul Albiol last summer.
