England only managed a 1-1 draw in their opening game with USA in Rustenburg on Saturday.
“We have got players who can score goals, I know for us to do well that I need to play a bit better and need to score goals,” Rooney said on Sky Sports News.
“But I don’t feel pressure and as long as the team does well and we win the next two games, I will be happy.
“I am happy to be playing, obviously I would like to score, don’t get me wrong, but if I am not scoring I will play until I do – so I am not too worried.”
“I think the game against the USA, we started really well and we deserved to win, but unfortunately we didn’t and we are looking forward to the game Friday and we are sure we will take three points,” he continued.
“We caused problems, we created chances for the team and it was important to us and I think if the manager picks the two of us again we will cause problems for the Algerian defence.”
“I don’t think there has been a stand-out team bar Germany, we are confident we can do well, we are sure we will come through the group and then we will see who we get in the draw and then we are capable of beating anyone,” he added.
“I think it is important not to lose the first game, although we wanted to win, a draw wasn’t the worst result in the world and gives us something to move on from.
“International football now is much more difficult, all the teams are difficult, the African teams have got better and every game bar the German one has been tight – it will be a tight tournament.
“To be honest all the games haven’t been that exciting so I hope it gets more exciting.”
