Fergie is keen to bring in Sneijder as a long term replacement for Paul Scholes, according to the Sun.
The United boss wants the 26-year-old to play just behind striker Wayne Rooney.
Sneijder has been a hit at the San Siro since joining Inter Milan from Real Madrid in a £13million deal a year ago.
Reports claim the Dutchman could cost United around £35million.
