The 27-year-old failed to make an impact at Wolves since joining the club from Rapid Vienna last summer.
“We are talking to some clubs about Stefan and there has been interest in Germany, but nothing concrete as yet,” Maierhofer’s agent, Max Hagmayr, told Sky Sports.
“Normally Stefan wants to stay and play at Wolverhampton, but he has been informed that he should go as the manager does not count on him.
“We will now wait and see what offers come in for Stefan.”
