The new deal will keep the 23-year-old with Leverkusen until the summer of 2014.
“Gonzalo Castro is an important player for the future of Bayer Leverkusen. We are very satisfied that we have managed to tie him to the club on a long term deal,” Rudi Voeller, Leverkusen’s sporting director, was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
“I’ve been playing for Bayer Leverkusen for quite a while now and I’ve developed a special bond with the club. That’s why I’m glad that we’ve agreed terms. We can achieve big things with this team,” added Castro.
