He told the Rossoneri’s official website: “I said hello to Ronaldo after the game on Thursday night and he seemed very content. The fact that he picked Milan over greater financial offers shows he still has a lot to show in football.
“I am also pleased to be at Milan and my future does not depend on what happens at Real Madrid. Of course, I think that I might not get on well as has happened with Shevchenko although I believe he can still write his own history at Chelsea.”
He added on the new AC Milan signings: “I am convinced by the signings made in January and Milan have a project to keep the team up there at the top in years to come and buying players in January is part of that. It’s a bit complicated for me to speak about Ronaldo because I am such a big fan.
“It’s been said that there are no standard-bearers around today but I hope to become one. Maldini and Costacurta are great examples, hopefully, I will remain here and one day become captain and a standard-bearer for Milan.”
