Kolarov joined City in a £16million deal from Lazio earlier this summer.
“I don’t need to answer any criticism about why I joined City, but it wasn’t because of money,” said Kolarov.
“I had opportunities to go to other clubs and earn a lot but I came here because I could see it is a club that is going places.
“I know that United have had a lot of success, but I think we will become better than United and that we will one day become even better known than they are.”
