Puyol suffered a rapture of the thigh muscle in his left leg during the warm-up for the game against Racing Santander.
The 32-year-old is set to miss games against Hercules, Atletico Madrid, Sporting Gijon and Panathinaikos.
Puyol has also been forced to withdraw from the Spain squad that is set to face Liechtenstein and Argentina.
