Everton scored two goals in injury time to grab a 3-3 draw against United at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Ferguson told Sky Sports: “That only tells you that football can do that to you, and a game where you’re in a completely comfortable position can be thrown away just like that.”
“The last two away games that we’ve been in, we’ve lost a goal with two minutes to go at Fulham and then again today we were wasteful with chances to bury Everton and didn’t do it,” he added.
“They were big chances, the first part of the game was a wonderful performance you can’t dispute that part but to throw it away like that.”
“We’ve played some good football at times,” he continued.
“[Dimitar] Berbatov was our best player in the second half and was brilliant today, but it’s all wasted because we’ve thrown two points away.
“He’s a great player, and great players do that. Maybe he didn’t reach the heights last season and had some difficult moments, but he had some great moments and today again he had some great moments.”
