News of the World reports that the Dutchman is on United’s wanted list after Van der Sar backed the Ajax keeper to succeed him.
A United delegation reportedly watched the 27-year-old in action for Holland against Finland last Tuesday.
Van der Sar is expected to remain as a goalkeeping coach at United when his playing contract expires.
