Spurs were reportedly ready to offer around €25million for Zarate in the summer.
“Personally I know that Tottenham would be willing to still take the player,” Zarate’s friend Jose Alberto told the Italian Radio Six.
“About a month ago I spoke with someone who knows a lot in those parts, who assured me that Spurs were ready to offer around €25 million for Zarate. But [Lazio president Claudio] Lotito has always considered him unsellable.”
“Spartak Moscow also asked me about him but Maurito wouldn’t agree to go there,” he added.
