The Spaniard scored the winner in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against Blackburn at Anfield on Sunday.
Hodgson said: “The goal will do a lot for him – I thought he was good today.
“His movement was good and I thought he was much more aggressive and lively up front.
“He was much more like the player we know he is.
“If we can keep him doing that for the next 29 games then we’ll cause plenty of problems to opponents.
“It was nice to see him get his reward.”
