The 31-year-old recently signed a new deal that will keep him at Stoke until the summer of 2013.
“I would love to see out my career here,” Higginbotham told The Sentinel.
“I have been here four years now and this is where I’ve enjoyed my career the most.
“I’m settled in the area. I’m close to my family, I got married in the summer and there’s a lot of good people at this football club.”
“It is no coincidence the manager has brought out the best out in me,” added Higginbotham.
“People questioned me coming to Stoke but the manager sold the club to me.
“He has got the knack of bringing the best out of players and he really resurrected my career. I have a lot to thank him for.”
