The Italian giants had a two-man delegation to watch Cahill in action for Bolton last week, according to The People.
Cahill has also been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Bolton chairman Phil Gartside revealed earlier this week that the club may have to sell players in the January transfer window.
