The 25-year-old was expected to leave United earlier this season after refusing to sign a new deal with the club, but finally signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils.
Reports have suggested that Rooney signed the new deal in order for United to maximise their return on the England international.
Rooney told MUTV: “I read that I have agreed a new deal so that the club can agree a higher price with a different team somewhere down the line.
“It is a load of rubbish. I signed a new deal to stay here for the long-term future with Manchester United.”
