The 35-year-old has been out of action since the draw with West Ham in October.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that the veteran will not be back in action until next year.
“Jody’s going to be out for quite a while – it could be six to eight weeks,” said McCarthy.
“It’s still his hip and thigh – it’s been bothering him. He’s had it scanned again and there’s a tear in it.
“He’s got to have some treatment on it but it’s far worse than we thought. He won’t be fit until after Christmas.”
“It’s a big blow for us and for him as well.”
Wolves winger Michael Kightly is set to undergo operation to his other knee after suffering a new injury.
“The knee he’s had done is great so he’s having the other one done,” added McCarthy. “He’s having it done on December 12.”
