The United States international is struggling with a thigh straing that saw him miss the 2-2 draw with Blackpool.
Coyle said: “Stuart Holden missed out last week – he has been very influential for us.
“He hasn’t trained up to this point so we will give him the next couple of days to see where he is at and take it from there.”
