Cleverley sustained a rib injury in the 0-0 draw at Everton last weekend. It was feared the England Under-21 internaitonal had cracked a rib, but scans have shoen there is no crack.
“He’s had an X-ray and there is no fracture, just bruising to the rib,” Wigan boss Roberto Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post.
“It’s obviously still sore and painful but we’re hoping Tom will react well to treatment and he should be in contention for the weekend.
“We’ll have a better idea at the end of the week but it’s not the bad news we all feared.
“Knowing Tom and the way he always wants to be available, I would say he’ll be available for selection.”
Cleverley is currently on loan at Wigan from Manchester United.
Cleverley said: “About five minutes before half-time, Fellaini clattered me and I was just struggling to catch my breath after that.
“He’s a big lad and when he catches you, you know about it.”
