Iniesta is up against team mates Xavi and Lionel Messi, but Desailly believes he deserves it “for all he has done for the year and because he scored the goal that gave the World Cup to Spain, and he is very important for his team, creating the space for Messi, Pedro and [David] Villa.”
Desailly also praised his team mate Gerard Pique, labelling him as the best centre back in Europe for his technical as well as positional skill.
