The 28-year-old made his first appearance of the season in the FA Cup clash at Blackburn earlier this month, due to a leg problem that had kept him out of action.
Cook is now keen to leave QPR in an attempt to regain match fitness.
“I’ve had a few run-outs, with two reserve games under my belt, so I’m close to full match fitness and I’m naturally quite fit during games anyway,” Cook told Sky Sports.
“I probably need one more and then we will take it from there.
“We’ve had a brief chat about it, but the gaffer keeps telling me how strong and well I look with all the extra stuff that I’ve been doing in training.
“I’d like to go out for a month because I need to be fully match fit before I can earn the right to start here.
“I came back from pre-season thinking that I was fully fit and ready to go, but the surgeon had another look and told me that the leg wasn’t quite right.
“So I had to do a lot more strengthening work on it, which is why I’ve been sidelined for an extra six or seven months.
“To finally make my first appearance of the season was great and coming out of it with no niggles was good too.”
